This is a Vegan Chocolate Tart that I decided to make for dessert. I used some slivered almonds, vegan chocolate, and a baked sweet potato as some of my special ingredients. This is truly a chocolate lover’s dessert, and it was easy to make.
Mom’s Organic is one of a handful of markets where I can purchase my recipe ingredients. The others include Whole Foods Market, Wegmans and Sprouts Farmers Market. Vegan Chocolate Tart
Ingredients:
Crust:
2 Cups of almonds
1/2 Cup of oats
1/3 Cup of coconut oil (melted)
2 Tablespoons of raw cacao powder
2 Tablespoons of sugar free maple syrup
Filling:
1 and 1/2 Cups of cooked sweet potatoes
2/3 Cup of raw cacao powder
2/3 Cup of coconut oil (melted)
1/3 Cup of coconut milk
1/2 Cup of sugar free maple syrup
Pinch of Himalayan salt
Directions:
For the crust: Add the crust ingredients to a food processor and pulse until fine and sticky. Press the mixture into a 9 inch tart pan, with a removable bottom and place in the freezer to become firm.
-Filling: Add the filling ingredients to the food processor, to process until smooth. Make sure the ingredients are not cold, since that can cause the oil to solidify.
-Take the hardened crust out of the freezer then pour the chocolate filling into the pie crust and chill in the fridge until set for about 2 hours. You can top with cacao nibs and slivered almonds and enjoy!
Note: You can also use fruit too!
