Plant Based Meatballs with Tomato Sauce is robust and full of flavor – great for lunch or for dinner. This dish is quick and easy to make. Plant based parmesan cheese was sprinkled over the top to enhance the flavor.
Plant Based Meatballs with Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon of fresh basil, chopped
1/2 cup of panko breadcrumbs
1 Tablespoon of Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
Himalayan salt and pepper
2 tablespoon of olive oil
Tomato sauce:
1 25 oz. Jar of marinara sauce
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon of coconut sugar
1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon of plant based Parmesan cheese
Topping; Sprinkle of nondairy shredded mozzarella cheese.
Directions:
-Preheat the oven to 400F. Combine the plant based ground meat and ingredients in a large bowl. Then roll the plant based meatballs about 1 1/2 tablespoons measuring with a cookie scoop or you can use a tablespoon to create the balls.
-Place plant based meatballs in a large cast iron skillet with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Cook for 10 minutes or until golden. Remove plant based meatballs and prepare pan to add marinara sauce to the skillet over medium heat along with other ingredients. Simmer for 10 minutes, or as desired.
-Add in the meatballs to the sauce and top with nondairy mozzarella shredded cheese.
-Put the cast iron skillet into the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
-Serve with hot crusty bread and pasta. Enjoy!
