These Falafel Burgers are made from chickpeas, fresh basil, onion, smoked paprika and some other spices. I topped my falafel burgers off with a delicious tahini sauce.
Falafel Burgers
Ingredients:
1 Can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/2 Medium onion, chopped
1/2 Cup of basil, chopped
1 Teaspoon of Himalayan salt
2 Cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 Teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
1 Teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 Teaspoon of baking powder
4 Tablespoons of gluten-free all purpose flour
Directions:
-Drain the chickpeas and add them along with the onion, Himalayan salt, garlic and spices to a food processor and pulse until the mixture is course and grainy.
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then divide the falafel mixture into 4 to 5 round balls before placing them on the baking sheet.
-Use your hand to slowly press out the balls into flat burgers, lightly shape the side of the burgers. Place on a baking sheet and put in the refrigerator and allow the burgers to chill for 2 hours. Then heat a large skillet to medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the burgers to the pan, use a spatula to flip on each side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with a bun and your favorite fixings. Enjoy!
