These Chocolate Donuts are truly a chocolate lovers’ delight. They are decadent and delicious, with a flaky texture. They are quick and easy to make and I used my favorite non-dairy chocolate. Donuts are great for breakfast, but this chocolatey donut can also make for a great dessert.
Vegan Chocolate Donuts
Ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups of Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour
1 Teaspoon of baking powder
4 oz unsweetened applesauce
1/4 Cup of organic sugar granulated sweetener
1/2 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/4 Cup of unsweetened rice milk or almond milk
1 to 2 bags of nondairy chocolate chips as desired
Directions:
-Preheat the oven to 400F.
-In a large mixing bowl combine all the donut ingredients (except the chocolate chips) combine ingredients and form a smooth cake batter.
-Fill 2 non-stick, greased 12-count mini donut pans with batter or you can make them larger if using a larger pan.
-Bake the donuts for 6-7 minutes, or as needed according to your oven. Remove and flip them out of the pan and put them on a cooling wire rack. (If you have larger donuts they will bake for about 15 minutes).
-Melt 1 to 2 bags of chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave on 30 second increments, stirring constantly until melted while the donuts cool.
-Dip each donut into the melted chocolate, using two forks to allow excess chocolate to drip off then add colorful jimmies.
-Let the chocolate coated donuts dry and harden on parchment paper before eating. Once hardened you can store in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy!
